The Gathering – Community Meal Program
Meeting Minutes Update

At our recent meeting, we had a productive and encouraging discussion as we continue growing The Gathering and strengthening our mission to serve Cass County. We as official Directors Signed our Officer positions and waivers plus finalized our By Laws for The Gathering Cass County, Inc. official status and to secure the future of our mission for a long time. We went over our Release of Liability forms for our Drivers and Volunteers to hold us not responsible. Our menu's were planned for the next 2 meals. We chose not to have July 27th meal date as that is the same date as our Fair week and we want to ensure everyone supports our young farmers and members of the fair. We discussed a few fundraising opportunities offered and chose to focus on the one we are planning for on October 3rd. We are so excited about this event! The community will enjoy coming to enjoy a delicious meal, choose items off our Auction tables and our raffle chances. We are hoping to secure a local artist to entertain us with some good music.

  • We are consistently serving hundreds of meals each month, with strong participation at both dine-in and carry-out.
  • Our delivery program continues to expand, reaching neighbors across Atlantic and surrounding communities.
  • We are seeing new guests each meal, showing the growing need and impact of our program.

🙌 Volunteer & Community Support

  • Volunteer turnout has been strong, and we are incredibly grateful for the continued dedication of our team.
  • Local churches, businesses, and individuals continue to step up as meal sponsors and partners, helping make each event possible.

💰 Financial & Growth Planning

  • We reviewed our new financial and budgeting system, which will help us better track expenses, donations, and overall sustainability.
  • Continued focus on grant opportunities and sponsorships will help us expand and maintain our services. 
  • Sally has applied for 2 local business's that continues to help our community and we look forward to hearing their decisions.

🚀 Looking Ahead

  • We will continue to improve our organization, volunteer coordination, and outreach efforts.
  • Plans are in motion to grow our monthly giving program and strengthen long-term support.
  • Our goal remains clear: to ensure every neighbor in Cass County has access to a warm meal and a welcoming place.
  • We are looking forward to the training Volunteer Iowa will be having for our organization that was chosen for the grant that will be issued in September of this year.
